Get ready to taste your way through the best of Winelands without having to physically go to all the different wine farms.

Much like the Taste of Cape Town event, the organisers do all the hard work by bringing The Winelands to you, or at least the grand marquee at the Waterfront…

The V&A Waterfront Wine Affair takes place between the 4th and 7th of May 2010, from 17h0 to 21h00, in the Waterfront Lookout above the Breakwater Parking Garage.

The Cape Times V&A Waterfront Wine Affair, is an annual event, that, as the name suggests, takes place in the heart of the Waterfront.

The idea is visitors can reap all the wine tasting rewards as if they were on a tour of all the major wine routes of the Western Cape.

This Festival represents the entire spectrum of Cape wine producers, from top-notch estates to superb boutique wineries.

Stomach liners are available too :-)

Prices and Details

  • Early Bird R75 per person until Sunday, 25 April 2010
  • R90 per person (Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday) and R110 (Friday)
  • Your ticket includes wine and deli tastings and a brochure. Specialised food items, and wine for post-festival delivery, will be on sale.

Update: Official Notes from the Organiser

The V&A Waterfront, Cape Town’s oldest working harbour and iconic retail, leisure and hospitality destination, will be hosting the V&A Waterfront Wine Affair. This well loved wine and food festival is the only event of its kind that takes place right at the waters’ edge, offering spectacular views and the enjoyment of top Western Cape wineries and V&A Waterfront restaurants.

Participating wine estates will be represented and supported by a uniquely tailored menu from a variety of the award-winning V&A Waterfront restaurants.

The Waterfront Lookout, situated on the roof of the Breakwater Parking Garage is the perfect host venue for the V&A Waterfront Wine Affair, overlooking the ocean, with breathtaking views of Table Mountain and the Cape Town Stadium.

“Visitors will be spoilt for choice as gourmet exhibitors and restaurants offer delicacies to savour as an accompaniment to your wines. Whether it is sushi, oysters, cheese, charcuterie or perhaps a beef kebab, you will be sure to find the perfect food and wine pairing,” says Jean Dennis, Communications Manager for the V&A Waterfront.

Born in England, Nick has been living in Cape Town on and off for quite a while and even spent a year here and there at a few local schools. While doing his degree, at the University of Plymouth in England, he decided that a good lifestyle was more important than a stable job.

Having spent some childhood years in Cape Town, there wasn’t much of a descision to be made and when he had the opportunity to work in Cape Town for a year, he jumped at the chance. One of Nick’s early ambitions was to learn more about the heart of Cape Town, the streets, the places and get a job! Another of Nick’s passions is surfing, which is probably the real reason he came to Cape Town, so if there are any articles on beaches and the word surf pops up a lot, you will know why! Always looking for new things to do, new people, new restaurants and places to go, we hope Nick will keep the website fresh and fun.
